During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for German Chocolate Cake Recipe

  • Milk chocolate chopped 100 grams

  • Refined flour (maida) 2 cups

  • Sugar Free Natura Diet Sugar

  • Eggs 4

  • A pinch of salt

  • Soda bicarbonate 1 teaspoon

  • Buttermilk 1 cup

  • Almonds chopped ½ cup

  • Oil 1 cup

  • Citric acid ¼ teaspoon


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Step 2

Boil 1 cup water in a deep non-stick pan and add chocolate. Mix well and switch off heat. Set aside to cool.

Step 3

Break eggs into a bowl and beat well with an electric beater till light and frothy.

Step 4

Add Sugar Free Natura Diet Sugar and beat again till well mixed.

Step 5

Sift together refined flour, salt and baking soda into the bowl. Mix well, add chocolate and mix again. Add buttermilk and mix again.

Step 6

Add walnuts and oil and mix again. Add citric acid and mix.

Step 7

Pour into a baking dish, place it in the preheated oven and bake for thirty-forty minutes.

Step 8

Remove from oven, cool, slice and serve.
