Ingredients list for Fish Moilee

  • 600 grams Rohu
  • Coconut Milk
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 10 Curry leaves
  • 2 medium Onions chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic paste
  • 3 Green chillies slit
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 cups Coconut milk

Method

  1. Clean, wash and cut fish into one inch slices. Apply a little salt and lemon juice and keep aside for fifteen minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds. Add onions and cook until soft and translucent.
  3. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, slit green chillies, turmeric powder and fish pieces. Cook on high heat for half a minute. Add coconut milk and adjust salt. Cook covered on low heat for about ten minutes.
  4. Serve hot with steamed rice.
