Corn Patties

Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients

  • American corn kernels blanched1 cup

  • Ginger chopped1 teaspoon

  • Green chilli chopped1

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Dry mango powder (amchur) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped2 teaspoons

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 2 teaspoons

  • Bread hand torn4 slices

  • Salt to taste

  • Bread crumbs 2 tablespoons

  • Oil to deep fry

Method

Step 1

Grind the sweet corns along with ginger and green chilli.

Step 2

In a bowl mix together corn kernels paste, ginger, green chillies, red chilli powder, chaat masala, dry mango powder, chopped fresh coriander, corn flour, bread slices and salt.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties.Coat the patties with breadcrumbs and keep aside.

Step 4

Heat oil in a non stick pan and shallow fry the patties till golden brown on both the sides and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
