How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Chawal Ke Pakode Recipe

  • Cooked Rice 2 cups

  • Gram Flour 2 large

  • Ginger 1 1/2 inch piece

  • Fresh mint leaves 1/4 cup

  • Gram flour (besan) 1/2 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Green chillies finely chopped 4

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Chop onions, ginger and mint leaves in a chopper.

Step 2

Put rice in a bowl, add onion-ginger-mint leaves mixture, gram flour, salt, green chillies and chaat masala and mix well.

Step 3

Shape into medium sized balls and slide into hot oil. Deep fry till golden and crisp.

Step 4

Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
