Ingredients for Banana and Oats Cake Recipe

  • Bananas peeled and pureed 3

  • Oats 1/2 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 cup + for dusting

  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon

  • Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Melted butter 6 tablespoons + for greasing

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Castor sugar 1 cup

  • Buttermilk 1/2 cup

  • Eggs 2

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180º C. Grease 2 cake tins with butter and dust with some flour.

Step 2

Sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda into a bowl. Add salt and oats and mix well.

Step 3

Add butter, banana puree and vanilla essence and mix well. Add castor sugar and mix well.

Step 4

Add buttermilk and mix till well blended. Add eggs and mix well to a smooth batter.

Step 5

Divide the batter equally into 2 cake tins and spread evenly and thinly. Place the tins in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Step 6

Remove from oven and cool down to room temperature. Remove the cake from the tins, cut into wedges and serve.
