And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Achari Aloo in Dahi Recipe

  • Baby potatoes boiled and peeled 250 grams

  • Onion seeds (kalonji) ½ teaspoon

  • Mustard seeds ½ teaspoon

  • Fennel seeds (saunf) 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) ½ teaspoon

  • Hung yogurt ½ cup

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon

  • Curry leaves a few

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Asafoetida 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Grind onion seeds, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds into a coarse powder.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add ground powder, turmeric powder, curry leaves, green chillies and asafoetida. Sauté till fragrant.

Step 3

Add yogurt, mix well and cook on low heat. Add potatoes, mix well and cook.

Step 4

Add salt, mix well and add ¼ cup water. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Serve hot.
