Ingredients list for Ghassi

  • 6 one-inch pieces Ginger
  • 4 Green chillies
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • to taste Salt
  • 4 teaspoons Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup Oil

Method

  1. Grind together scraped coconut, roasted whole red chillies, tamarind, cumin seeds and turmeric powder to a fine paste.
  2. Add salt to taste and mix well. Add a little water to make thick paste. Bring to a boil.
  3. Heat oil and add mustard seeds. When they crackle, add curry leaves and asafoetida. Add this to the prepared paste and mix well. Serve with patrado/patrel.
