Ingredients list for Brown Rice- Sk Khazana

  • 1 1/2 cups Basmati rice washed, soaked for 30 minutes and drained
  • 2 large Onions thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 4-5 Cloves
  • 6-8 Black peppercorns
  • 3-4 Green cardamoms
  • 1 1/2 inch stick Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Granulated sugar
  • to taste Salt
  • for garnish Fresh coriander sprigs

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a deep pan, add cloves, black peppercorns, green cardamoms, cinnamon stick and sauté till fragrant.
  2. Add onions and sauté till they turn a light golden. Add sugar, mix well and cook till the onions are caramelised.
  3. Add rice, salt and 3 cups water and mix well. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or till the rice is cooked completely. Take the pan off the heat.
  4. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
