Waffles are the ultimate dessert, hence proved!

When we talk about waffles, a true dessert lover will start to drool just by hearing its name. Go on, today you have more reason to fall in love and talk about your favourite dessert. But, if you love waffles so much, you should know that every year, on 25th March, International Waffle Day is celebrated. Waffles are those decadent treats that have been our breakfast saviours, mood uplifters and also the go-to dessert after every boring meal. Sweet and savoury, crispy and soft, light and fluffy we literally love them in any form, shape or flavour.

Here are some interesting waffle trivia to celebrate the day in all its glory!

  1. Did you know waffles have existed for much longer than you can imagine? Yes, waffle irons exist since the 13th century! Mind = blown
  2. The word ‘waffle’ comes from the Dutch word ‘wafel’ which means ‘to weave’. Now, the pattern of the waffle makes sense!
  3. Apart from the worldwide celebration of this dessert today, the U.S celebrates ‘National Waffle Day’ on August 24th. Can this dessert get any more appreciation than this?
  4. A person holds the world record for eating 29 waffles in 10 minutes. Do you think you can beat him?
  5. The world’s most popular ‘Belgian waffle’ was originally called ‘Brussels waffle’ but they realized people won’t know where Brussels was so they changed it later on. We think they made the right call!
