Things to eat this winter!

Don’t you think winter season is just amazing? The chilling weather, comfy sweaters, cozy blankets, and so much more, all of this is just wow! But, at the same time winters make us realise that the year is going to end soon. Although, it gives us one of the best times of the whole long year, Christmas, New Year parties etc. There is a lot in this season, but let’s talk about the food bit. In our childhood days, we are sure your grandma forced you to drink that glass of garma-garam Haldi wala Doodh, and that one glass gave us so much comfort that we ended up sleeping like a baby. But, apart from the turmeric milk, there are a lot of other winter foods which work wonders to comfort you and your body. Though, you might already know a few, but let us tell you their benefits and why are they regarded as ‘winter foods’.

It’s a Date:

Khajoor is one of the most recommended foods to eat during winters. Why? Because they keep our bodies warm and help battle that chilling weather. Dates are a good source of nutrients that your body needs, and they also are low in fat which helps your manage your weight too. So make sure to include a handful of khajoor in your diet regularly, especially during winters.

Shakkarkand in thand:

You might already know by now that sweet potatoes are slightly healthier as compared to the regular potatoes. They are packed with fibre, potassium and Vitamin A. It has also been regarded as one of the important foods that boost immunity. They reduce inflammation in the body too, and they contain beta carotene which helps in keeping the skin clear and soft especially during winters.

Fruits and Veggies to warm you:

To battle the chilling weather, you need to eat some veggies and fruits every day, without fail. Eating seasonal produce can always serve better in terms of freshness, taste and health. Citrus fruits like pomegranate, oranges, grapefruits and lemons are loaded with vitamin C will help you get your winter sorted. Veggies like spinach, cabbage, carrots, beetroots and onions can also be a great pick this winter. They are all nutrient rich and best for your immune system.

Bajra makes it better:

Bajra is the popular millet which is said to work great in winters. It keeps you warm and provides you energy to keep you going through the day. This Desi superfood is rich in fibre, protein and iron, which can in turn help in treating anaemia. It can also help in strengthening your bones if eaten regularly. Move over your regular grains and millets, and make sure to enjoy this healthy millet in winter season.

Time to go nutty:

Nuts like almonds, walnuts and apricots can help you get a healthy nervous system; they are also help in keeping your heart healthy and body. Make sure to pick a handful of nuts while going on a chilling day to keep your body warm and comfy.
