A delish meal, for the one you love!

One of the greatest and most fortunate things in life is to love and to be loved. And there is no happiness compared to the one when your loved ones’ eyes glitter because of great food! Though, every day we express our love through different means to our soul mate, friends and family, but freezing some romantic moments with your better half and quality time spent with your family over delicious food, goes a long way. Valentine’s Day is also known as the ‘Feast of Saint Valentine’ and is celebrated all around the world.

  • 1500s and late 1700s: There were formal messages that appeared commercially on printed cards. The first commercial valentines’ were printed in the United States around the mid-1800s. 

  • All about Cupid: The Roman god of love, along with hearts which traditionally seat one's emotion. February was also considered as the avian mating season, so birds also became a symbol for this day. 

  • Pagan fertility festival: Though some historians believe that on 14th February, Valentine's Day commemorates the death of St. Valentine. However, others believe that the holiday actually has its origins in the pagan fertility festival called Lupercalia.

  • Chocolates: The first heart-shaped box of chocolates was introduced in the year 1861.

  • A holiday that depicts love for life partner and friends: Many Latin American countries associate this day with a holiday as el día de los enamorados which means a day of lovers, and día del amor y la amistad as the day of love and friendship. Though couples celebrate this day with flowers and chocolates, the focus is also on showing gratitude towards friends.
