Ingredients list for Vala Che Bhirde

  • 250 grams Val Sprouted
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons Coconut Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1 large Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder (deghi mirch)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh coconut scraped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Jaggery (gur)

Method

  1. Remove the skins of the sprouted val. Peel and chop the onion. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, when they crackle remove from heat.
  2. Add chopped onion, asafoetida, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and beat with a whisk till frothy.
  3. Add val, coconut milk and cook on low heat till val is cooked. Add grated coconut and jaggery. Stir for a minute till it dissolves.
  4. Serve hot with rice or ghavne.
