By Sanjeev Kapoor 15 Jul 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Tomatoes, Coconut Cuisine Maharashtrian Course Dals and Kadhis Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 16-20 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Advertisment Ingredients list for Tomato Saar 5-6 large Tomatoes chopped 1 cup Coconut 6 cloves Garlic 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds to taste Salt 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder 2 tablespoons Olive oil 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds a pinch Asafoetida 8-10 Curry leaves 3-4 Green chilli slit 2-3 tablespoons Sugar 1/4 cup Fresh coriander leaves chopped Method Advertisment Grind together coconut, garlic and cumin seeds to a paste. Place tomatoes in a pan with salt and red chilli powder. Add three cups of water and bring it to a boil. Simmer for fifteen minutes and puree when it is a little cool. Heat olive oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves. Add pureed tomatoes and green chillies and bring to a boil. Add sugar. Add coconut-garlic paste and mix well. Simmer on low heat for ten minutes. Adjust seasoning. Serve hot, garnished with coriander leaves.
