Ingredients list for Tomato Bhaat

  • 3 cups Cooked Rice
  • 4 medium Tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic chopped
  • 7-8 Curry leaves
  • 2 medium Onions finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garam masala powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 4 Papads
  • for garnishing Fresh coriander leaves chopped

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and saute for a minute.
  2. Add garlic and curry leaves and saute for two minutes. Add onions, mix and saute till the onions turn translucent.
  3. Add tomatoes, mix and cook till the tomatoes turn soft and pulpy.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt and mix well.
  5. Add rice and toss well. Cook till the rice gets heated through.
  6. Roast the papads on direct heat and immediately shape them into katoris.
  7. Fill the papad katoris with tomato bhaat, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
