Ingredients list for Stuffed Chilli Lababdar

  • 8 large Large Green Chillies
  • 4 medium Cottage Cheese boiled and grated
  • 1/2 cup Paneer (cottage cheese) grated
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 1/2 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 2 tbsps + to deep fry Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger paste
  • 1 cup Tomato puree
  • 2 Green chillies chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Kasoori methi crushed
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1/2 cup Fresh cream

  1. Slit the green chillies and remove the seeds.
  2. Place grated potatoes in a bowl. Add paneer, salt, half a teaspoon of red chilli powder and half the garam masala powder and mix well.
  3. Stuff the green chillies with this mixture, pressing some of it onto the surface of the chillies as well.
  4. Mix together gram flour, salt, half a teaspoon of red chilli powder, chaat masala powder, baking powder and sufficient water in a deep bowl and whisk till smooth. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  5. Dip the stuffed chillies in the gram flour batter and deep-fry till golden.
  6. Drain on absorbent paper and place in a warm oven.
  7. For the gravy, heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan.
  8. Add garlic paste and ginger paste and sauté for a few seconds
  9. Add tomato purée and sauté for five minutes. Add one cup of water and mix well.
  10. Add green chillies, salt, remaining red chilli powder and remaining garam masala powder and mix well.
  11. Bring the mixture to a boil and add coriander leaves. Mix well.
  12. Add kasoori methi and stir in the honey and fresh cream. Mix well again.
  13. Cut each fried stuffed chilli into three or four pieces.
  14. Spoon the gravy into a serving platter, arrange the stuffed chillies on it and serve hot.
