Ingredients list for Shallow-Fried Fish With Oatmeal

  • 2 Fish fillet boneless
  • 1 cup Oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 12-15 Curry leaves
  • a pinch Citric acid
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar

Method

  1. Cut fish fillets at a slant into big chunks. Keep them on a plate and sprinkle lemon juice, half the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, ginger-garlic paste and mix well.
  2. Add curry leaves and oatmeal and cook on low heat till crisp. Add a little salt and citric acid, sugar, remaining turmeric powder and mix well.
  3. Transfer onto a plate and set aside. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick grill pan.Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
  5. Place fish pieces on it and cook, turning sides a few times for even cooking, till both sides are golden.
  6. Place fish pieces on oatmeal mixture and cover them well with it.
  7. Arrange fish pieces on a serving platter, sprinkle extra oatmeal mixture on top and serve hot.
