Ingredients list for Peas And Prunes Kheer

  • 3/4 cup Green Peas
  • 1 cup Prunes
  • 1 tablespoon Raisins
  • 20 Pistachios
  • 1/2 cup Ghee
  • 1 litre Milk
  • 10-12 Rose petals
  • 2 slices Bread
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Green cardamom powder

  1. Wash and boil green peas in two cups of water for five minutes. Refresh in cold water and grind to a fine paste. Stone prunes. Stew them in one cup of water for five minutes. Drain and roughly chop. Soak raisins in half a cup of water for five minutes. Drain. Slice pistachios.
  2. Heat ghee in a thick-bottomed pan, add green peas paste and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Keep aside. Boil milk with rose petals. Simmer for ten minutes on low heat and strain the milk. Add milk to prepared green peas paste. Bring to a boil. Cook on low heat for fifteen to twenty minutes or till milk is reduced to half. Trim the edges of bread slices. Discard edges. Soak bread slices in water. Squeeze out the water completely and add this to the milk. Mix well.
  3. Add sugar, green cardamom powder and raisins. Cook for about ten minutes on low heat. Take it off heat and let it cool. Add chopped prunes and mix in the cooled peas kheer and serve chilled and topped with sliced pistachios.
