Ingredients list for Panchamrut

  • 1/4 cup Sesame seeds (til)
  • 1/4 cup Coconut scraped
  • 1/4 cup Peanuts
  • 1/4 cup Tamarind
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1/2 cup Jaggery (gur) grated
  • 2 tablespoons Goda masala
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Roast sesame seeds and peanuts. Grind to a coarse powder. Soak tamarind in a little warm water and remove pulp.
  2. Remove stems, wash and chop green chillies finely. Heat oil/ghee in a pan, add asafoetida and cook for a moment.
  3. Add jaggery, tamarind pulp, peanut and sesame powder, coconut, green chillies, goda masala and a pinch of salt. Mix it well.
  4. Add half a cup of water, bring it to a boil for two to three minutes. Serve when cool.
