Onion-Garlic-Pepper Gravy By Sanjeev Kapoor 22 Dec 2014 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Onions, Split pigeon pea ( toovar dal) Cuisine Indian Fusion Course Main Course-Veg Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Select Taste Level of Cooking Medium Others Veg Advertisment Ingredients list for Onion-Garlic-Pepper Gravy Onions 1 tablespoon Split pigeon pea ( toovar dal) 5-8 Garlic cloves crushed 4-5 Black peppercorns 2 tablespoons Oil 3-4 Dried red chillies stemmed and broken Curry leaves few sprigs 1/4 teaspoons Mustard seeds 1 tablespoon Split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal) to taste Salt Method Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan. Add black pepper, red chillies, toovar dal, urad dal with some oil till they are golden. Grind the roasted ingredients with a few curry leaves and sufficient water to make a smooth paste. Extract thick pulp from tamarind. Heat remaining oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add the black gram and wait for it to change the colour. Add the onions, garlic and saute till onions turn golden brown. Add the prepared paste and sauté well. Add tamarind pulp, 1 cup water and bring to boil. Add salt and mix well.
