And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Lehsooni Aloo Tikki Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled and mashed 6 medium

  • Garlic chopped 4-6 cloves

  • Salt to taste

  • Cashewnuts crushed 6-8

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1/4 cup

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) grated 1/4 cup

  • Oil to deep fry

Method

Step 1

Add salt to mashed potatoes and make a smooth dough. Divide into ten to twelve equal portions. Mix cashewnuts with onion, garlic, coriander leaves, red chilli powder, salt and paneer.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into ten to twelve equal portions. Stuff each portion of mashed potato with a portion of the paneer mixture. Roll and shape into tikkis of approximately two-inch diameter and half-inch thickness. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep-fry the tikkis to a golden brown.

Step 3

Drain and place on an absorbent paper. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or mint chutney.
