Ingredients list for Jau ki Kheer

  • 1 cup Barley soaked
  • 4 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Ghee
  • 3 tablespoons Almonds
  • 1/2 cup Khoya/mawa grated
  • 5 tablespoons Sugar
  • a pinch Green cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons Rooh Afza

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a non stick pan, add 3 tbsps almond slivers and sauté for a minute. Add barley and milk, mix and let it come to a boil.
  2. Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring at intervals, till the barley is completely cooked.
  3. Add khoya, sugar and cardamom powder and mix till sugar dissolves. Cook till the kheer comes to a boil.
  4. Switch off the heat, add rooh afza and mix well. Cool and transfer into a serving bowl. Garnish with almond slivers and serve chilled.
