Indian Style Fish Croquettes

Ingredients list for Indian Style Fish Croquettes

  • 400 grams Rawas fillets
  • to taste Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ½ cup Semolina (suji)
  • ? cup Bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup Dried coconut ( khopra) grated
  • 3 medium Potatoes boiled, peeled and grated
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 2 Green chillies chopped
  • 5-6 Curry leaves chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Garam masala powder
  • ¼ cup Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1 Egg
  • for dusting Refined flour (maida)
  • for deep-frying Oil

Method

  1. Boil fish fillet with salt and ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder till done. Strain and gently flake the fish with a fork.
  2. Mix together semolina, breadcrumbs, coconut and salt on a plate.
  3. Mix together fish, potatoes, remaining turmeric powder, chilli powder, green chillies, curry leaves, garam masala powder, coriander leaves, onion and salt in a bowl.
  4. Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape them into croquettes.
  5. Beat egg with 2 tablespoon water in a bowl.
  6. Dust the croquettes with flour, dip in beaten egg and coat with semolina mixture.
  7. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry the croquettes till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
  8. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or tartar sauce.
