Ingredients list for Idli Chilly Fry

  • 4 Idlis cut
  • 1/4 cup Refined flour (maida)
  • 3 teaspoons Cornflour/ corn starch
  • 1 tablespo Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic chopped
  • 1 a pinch MSG
  • 1 medium Green capsicum thinly shredded and toasted
  • 1 teaspoon White pepper powder
  • Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli sauce
  • to taste Salt
  • for garnish Spring onion

Method

  1. In a bowl mix together refined flour and corn flour. Add a little water and make a smooth thick batter.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai. Dip the idlis into the above mixture and fry till golden and crisp. Heat oil in a non stick pan; add ginger garlic paste and chopped garlic and sauté till brown.
  3. Add MSG and capsicum and sauté for a minute. Add white pepper powder, soya sauce, chilli sauce and salt. Mix well. Add two tablespoons water and sauté for a minute.
  4. Add the fried idlis and toss well. Serve hot garnished with spring onion greens.
