Ingredients list for Green Chilly Dal

  • 1 cup Split Pigeon Pea
  • 8-10 Green Chilli
  • 3-4 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 medium Tomato
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Pressure cook the split pigeon pea in 2 cups water till tender.Grind together green chillies and garlic to a fine paste.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick pan add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and saute. When it starts splutterin add onions and saute till light brown.
  3. Add tomatoes,green chilli-garlic paste, salt and saute for a minute. Add the dal and half cup water and let it simmer for five to ten minutes. Serve hot garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
