Ingredients list for Fried Tomatoes

  • 3-4 Tomatoes cut into thick slices
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 1/3 cup Cornstarch
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • to taste Crushed black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli flakes
  • 1/2 cup Skimmed milk yogurt
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  2. Combine rice flour, cornstarch, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, crushed peppercorns, red chilli flakes in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Take yogurt in another bowl. Add rice flour mixture and whisk well into a smooth and lump-free batter. Add water if required.
  4. Spread breadcrumbs on a plate.
  5. Dip tomato slices one by one in the batter and coat evenly. Dust in the breadcrumbs and deep-fry in the hot oil till golden. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Serve hot.
