Ingredients list for Cornmeal Fritters

  • 1/2 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Margarine
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 drops Vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup Refined flour (maida)
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • to deep fry Oil

Method

  1. Mix refined flour and cornmeal in a bowl.
  2. Add margarine, salt, baking powder and rub in till the mixture resembles bread crumbs. Add sugar, vanilla essence and milk and mix. Add egg and mix.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick kadai. Drop spoons full of batter into the hot oil and deep fry until golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  4. Serve hot.
