Ingredients list for Chawal aur Moong Dal ke Pakode

  • 1/4 cup Leftover cooked kolam rice
  • 1/2 cup Moong dal soaked for 5-6 hours
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • 1-2 Green chillies (Bhavnagri) finely chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves freshly chopped
  • to taste Crushed black peppercorns
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  2. Grind together green gram, green chillies and salt to a coarse paste. Transfer into a bowl and add rice, coriander leaves, crushed peppercorns and onion and mix well.Add rice flour and baking soda and mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into pakoras.
  4. Gently slide them into hot oil, a few at a time, and deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Serve hot.
