Ingredients

  • Split field beans (val ki dal),soaked
    1 1/2 tabl
  • Split pigeon pea (toor dal/arhar dal),soaked
    1 1/2 tabl
  • Split red lentil (masoor dal),soaked
    1 1/2 tabl
  • Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal),soaked
    3 tablespoons
  • Basmati rice,soaked
    3/4 cup
  • Desi ghee
    3 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon
    1 inch sti
  • Black cardamom
    1
  • Cloves
    3-4
  • Onions,sliced
    2 medium
  • Fresh coriander leaves
    1/4 bunch
  • Fresh mint leaves
    10-15
  • Ginger
    1 inch pie
  • Buttermilk
    1/2 cup
  • Sea salt
    to taste
  • Turmeric powder
    1/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1


Heat desi ghee in a pressure cooker, add cinnamon, black cardamom, cloves and onions and saute. Grind coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger and buttermilk till smooth.

Step 2


Add field beans, pigeon pea, split lentils and green gram to the cooker and mix. Add rice and mix. Add sea salt, turmeric powder and spiced buttermilk and mix. Add 3½ cups water and mix.

Step 3


When the mixture comes to a boil, cover the cooker and cook under pressure till 3-4 whistles are given out. Serve hot.
