This recipe is from FoodFood TV channel By Sanjeev Kapoor 08 Nov 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Split Bengal gram (chana dal), Snake gourd (padwal) Cuisine Indian Course Main Course Vegetarian Prep Time 41-50 minutes Cook time 31-40 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Chana Dal Padwal 1 cup Split Bengal gram (chana dal) soaked, boiled in water with salt and turmeric pow 250 grams Snake gourd (padwal) peeled 3 tablespoons Ghee 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida 1 tablespoon Ginger finely chopped 1 tablespoon Garlic finely chopped 3 Green chillies finely chopped 3 Dried red chillies 1 tablespoon Coriander powder 1 teaspoon Dried mango powder 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder to taste Salt Method Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger, garlic, green chillies and dried red chillies and saute till fragrant. Cut snake gourd into ½ cm roundels and add to the pan and mix well. Cook for 10-12 minutes or till snake gourd is cooked. Add coriander powder, dried mango powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and salt, mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add Bengal gram and mix well. Cook for 10-12 minutes. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
