Ingredients for Bread Rolls Recipe

  • Refined Flour 3 3/4 cups

  • Fresh Yeast 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Fresh yeast 15 grams

  • Sugar 2 teaspoons

  • Butter 30 grams

Method

Step 1

Sift flour and salt together. Mix yeast and sugar with one fourth cup of lukewarm water and set aside till it begins to froth. Add the yeast mixture to the flour and knead, adding water a little at a time, till you use up one cup of water.

Step 2

Keep stretching the dough from time to time and kneading it till you get a smooth and elastic dough. Cover with a damp cloth and set it aside till it doubles in volume.

Step 3

Knock back the dough and divide into twenty equal sized portions. Shape them into smooth round balls and then into any shape of your choice. Place the rolls on a greased baking tray, covered with a damp cloth for fifteen minutes or till they double in volume again.

Step 4

Preheat oven 190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5. Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for twenty five to thirty minutes. The rolls should be golden brown yet very soft to touch. Once done remove and brush with melted butter and leave them on a wire rack to cool.
