Ingredients list for Afghan Biscuits

  • 200 grams Butter
  • 2 cups Corn flakes
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 1¼ cups Refined flour (maida)
  • ¼ cup Cocoa powder
  • Chocolate Icing -
  • 200 grams Dark chocolate chopped
  • ½ cup Fresh cream
  • 250 grams Butter
  • for garnish Walnut kernels

Method

  1. Preheat oven at 180ºC.
  2. Put butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and cream together till light and fluffy.
  3. Sift the refined flour and cocoa powder into another bowl.
  4. Add this flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix well. Add cornflakes and mix well. Refrigerate for ten minutes.
  5. Place scoops of the mixture on a baking tray, keeping some distance between each, and bake in the preheated oven for twelve to fifteen minutes.
  6. For chocolate icing, mix chocolate, fresh cream and butter in a bowl and microwave it for a minute. Remove and mix properly with a whisk.
  7. Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool to room temperature.
  8. Spoon the chocolate icing over the biscuits and spread it evenly. Garnish with walnuts and serve immediately.
