Sweet and Sour Cabbage An excellent accompaniment - vinegar, apple, red wine and brown sugar make this red cabbage dish extra special. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe. By Sanjeev Kapoor 15 Oct 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Advertisment Main Ingredients Red cabbage, brown sugar/jaggery Cuisine Fusion Course Main Course Vegetarian Prep Time 0-5 minutes Cook time 31-40 minutes Serve 4 Taste Sweet Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Sweet and Sour Cabbage 1 small Red cabbage shredded 1 tablespoon brown sugar/jaggery ¼ cup Vinegar for garnishing Butter 2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon + 1 medium Onion sliced 1 medium Apple ½ cup Red wine to taste Salt a pinch Black pepper powder Method Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a non-stick pan. Add onion and sauté till it turns soft. Grate apple and put in a bowl. Add cabbage to the pan, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add grated apple and mix well. Add brown sugar and mix well. Add wine and mix well. Add salt, pepper powder and mix well. Add ¼ cup water, ¼ cup vinegar, mix well and braise for 20-30 minutes. Switch off heat and add 1 teaspoon butter and splash of vinegar. Mix well.
