Ingredients list for Sprout Khichdi

  • 1/2 cup Moong sprouts
  • 1/4 cup Matki sprouts
  • 1/4 cup Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal) soaked and drained
  • 3/4 cup Basmati rice soaked
  • 2-3 Cloves
  • 1 inch stick Cinnamon
  • 5-6 Black peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 2 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder

  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorns and saute for 1 minute. Add onions and saute till lightly coloured.
  2. Add moong and matki sprouts, moong dal. Add ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder and salt. Add rice, 4 cups water and mix. Close the cooker and cook till 2-3 whistles are given out. Let thekhichdi remain in the cooker for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Serve hot.
