Sopaipilla

Ingredients list for Sopaipilla

  • + for dusting Refined flour (maida) 1 cup
  • for dusting Icing sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Baking powder
  • Oil

Method

  1. Sieve together flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add butter and rub it in with your fingertip still the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Add two-third cup of water, mix and knead into a smooth dough. Set aside for five to ten minutes.
  3. Dust the worktop with some flour, place the dough on it and knead for one to two minutes. Cover and set aside for five minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough into one-fourth inch thick sheet and cut out roundels with a medium sized cookie cutter.
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry the roundels till golden and puffed. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Dust with icing sugar and serve.
