Ingredients for Open Caprese Sandwich Recipe

  • Focaccia bread slices 4

  • Pesto sauce For topping

  • Tomatoes sliced 2 medium

  • Mozzarella cheese sliced 150 grams

  • Fresh basil leaves as required

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Salt to taste

  • Balsamic vinegar to sprinkle

Method

Step 1

Toast bread slices on a non-stick pan, turning sides till golden on both sides.Transfer onto the worktop.

Step 2

Spread some pesto on the toasted bread slices. Place some tomato slices and mozzarella slices alternatively. Put few basil leaves and sprinkle some crushed peppercorns and salt on top.

Step 3

Place these sandwiches on a serving platter, drizzle some balsamic reduction on top and serve immediately.
