Ingredients list for Cumin And Black Olive Hummus

  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder roasted
  • 2-3 Black olives chopped
  • 2 cups Chickpeas (kabuli chana),boiled
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic,chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/3 cup Tahini
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 2 Pita bread
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder

Method

  1. Mix chickpeas, garlic and salt in a bowl. Put this mixture in a mixer jar and grind, stirring up the contents with a spoon in between. Add 2 tsps tahina and 1 tsp olive oil and continue to grind.
  2. Add the rest of tahina and a little olive oil and grind. Add a little water, roasted cumin powder, 1 tsp lemon juice and grind till smooth. Preheat oven to 180°C. Slit the pita breads and cut into strips and further cut into small triangles.
  3. Arrange the triangles on a baking tray and toast in the preheated oven till light brown and crisp. Transfer the hummus into a serving bowl. Make a well in the centre and drizzle the remaining olive oil into it. Garnish with black olives and sprinkle red chilli powder. Serve with the pita chips.
