Ingredients list for Churros

  • 1 cup Refined flour (maida)
  • 3 tbsps + to deep fry Castor sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons Icing sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
  • 1 cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)
  • as required Chocolate sauce

Method

  1. Heat 1 cup water with 3 tbsps oil in a non-stick pan. Add sugar and stir till sugar dissolves. When the water is hot switch off heat.
  2. Add baking powder to refined flour and mix. Add this to hot water and mix fast till it forms a dough. Put the dough in a bowl.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan.
  4. Mix icing sugar and cinnamon powder in a small container with a perforated lid.
  5. Put the dough in a piping bag fitted with a big star nozzle and pipe directly into hot oil, cutting off at every 2 inch and deep fry on medium heat till light golden.
  6. Spread castor sugar in a plate. Drain churros and roll in castor sugar.
  7. Arrange them on a serving plate, sprinkle some sugar-cinnamon powder mixture over them and serve with a bowl of chocolate sauce.
  8. Sprinkle icing sugar and cinnamon powder over the churros. Serve hot.
