Chop onion in a chopper. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, red chillies and onion and saute for 1 minute. Drain and add chana dal and mix. Chop cabbage roughly and add. Add salt, turmeric powder and saute, stirring, for a while.Add shrimps, coconut, garam masala powder and stir well. Slit green chillies and add along with 2 tbsps water, cover the cooker and cook under pressure on medium heat for 5 minutes.Switch off heat and let it cook in the steam for some time. Open the lid and serve hot.
