THE FAMILY THAT COOKS TOGETHER, BONDS TOGETHER

Sanjeev and his wife Alyona met inDelhi. The chemistry sent sparks flying and their 20-year-old marriage is estimate of that. “The women in my life are my biggest fans and the strongest critics! I love to cook for them on a holiday. We enjoy bringing up our two teenaged daughters, Rachita and Kriti. My mom stays with us and

even she is fond of cooking. She makes yummy ‘kadlii’ and pickles. To be honest, there is nothing better than simple homemade food. I make it a point to keep a balance between work and family life. And on the weekends when I am home, I ensure that Alyona gets a break and I get a chance to try out something new. Sometimes, we even cook together as a family. We try and have dinner together most days of the week when I am not travelling. This helps us bond together,” informs the super chef.

MY WIFE, MY DRIVING FORCE

“We travel together as much as Alyona’s schedule with the kids allow, in fact, we used to take the kids along at the slightest pretext when they were younger! Being together, travelling, learning, enjoying is the high of our relationship and I feel blessed! We share the same passion for food, and lhal, loo, is a plus point as I am where I am because Alyona has been my constant

source of inspiration and support,” adds Sanjeev.

Alyona, being the driving force of her better half, has provided both moral and emotional support during every of her husband’s endeavours. Ever since the inception of the ‘Khana Khazana group’, Alyona has borne the duty of handling the accounts and administration. “I am proud of my husband’s success. Wherever we go, people praise him and thank him as they have learnt some amazing food recipes either from his book or from the show. His fans range from 10-80 year olds,” smiles Alyona.

THE PERFECT WEEKEND

For this celebrity chef, a day off from work means being hundred percent with his family. “I love lounging around in the house, watching movies back to back; I enjoy cooking new dishes for them (family) and ask diem what they would like to eat, be it Indian, Chinese, Thai or whatever their mood is.

We sometimes go out for a meal or even cook at home together with everyone pitching in. My wife is an excellent cook and now my daughters have also started experimenting with food. All this strengthens our bond!” states Sanjeev. Table tennis, cycling or just travelling to new places with the extended family joining in, is something that the maestro enjoys.

MY FIRST LOVE AFFAIR — FOOD

Sanjeev states that his father has been the driving force throughout® his life. Sanjeev remembers, “He was interested in food, not only in eating but also in cooking. I inherited his passion for food. So that’s why I could start many things including a TV channel because 1 have never been scared of getting into big things. I am what I am because of my father’s values ingrained in me. In his thinking, inhere was never any gray – either black or white. I was always

encouraged to think out of the box.
